Vintage Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey Tasting
Truly a once in a lifetime experience, this intimate, discussion-led whiskey tasting celebrates Pennsylvania’s remarkable rye whiskey heritage. Led by whiskey historian Sam Komlenic, you will taste and discuss samples of six historically significant whiskeys, including pre-Prohibition and post-Prohibition bottles, representing some of Pennsylvania's most famous brands and distilleries.
Whiskey Rebellion Day
In the early morning of July 16, 1794, 50 angry and armed farmers approached the residence of John Neville, to demand that he turn over the tax records for the Federal excise tax on whiskey. Gunfire was exchanged and several of the farmers were shot...one fatally. On the following day, over 500 farmers surrounded Neville's house, which was now being protected by a dozen U.S. soldiers from Fort Fayette in Pittsburgh.

Interpreted Tour of the 1889 Flood
To commemorate the 135th Anniversary of the 1889 Johnstown Flood, join JAHA and the National Park Service on a bus tour tracing the flood’s path. Park Rangers Doug Bosley and Greg Zaborowski will be your guides as you travel from South Fork to Johnstown and meet important flood figures on the way, including Victor Heiser, Horace Rose, Clara Barton, and others telling the story of the flood as they experienced it.

The National Guard of Pennsylvania History Project is coming to the third floor of the Johnstown Flood Museum with a one-day exhibition to commemorate the National Guard of Pennsylvania’s response to the 1889 Johnstown Flood.

Flight 93 National Memorial Tour
On September 24, 2002, little more than a year after a United Airlines plane was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into a field in Somerset County, PA, the U.S. Congress passed an act establishing a memorial at the crash site, designating it the final resting place of the flight’s passengers and crew.

PHLF docents are on hand to tell you the story of the former Allegheny County Jail. Completed in 1886 to the designs of Boston architect H. H. Richardson, it closed on July 27, 1995. The building was then renovated between 1995 and 2001 and adapted for a new use as the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

Wayne's Fourth Sub-Legion Drill Day
Come to Woodville for a unique experience of 18th century military camp life. Join the soldiers of Wayne's Fourth Sub-Legion, the first Army of the United States, as they set up camp and practice the Von Steuben military drill manual of 1794. Other activities include an encampment, musket firing demonstration, military music, and camp cooking demonstrations.
