111TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION
The 111th Annual Exhibition will be on view starting February 20, 2025 at the Erie Art Museum. Under the curatorial direction of jurors Laura Domencic and Melanie Yugo, the 111th features 74 works of art by 60 artists. The 111th will be a first for the organization: the first anuual hosted by the Erie Art Museum. The 111th Annual will be on view until December 14, 2025.

Holding Still, Holding On
Holding Still, Holding On features new works by the CMU School of Art MFA Class of 2025—Frankmarlin, Izsys Archer, Tingting Cheng, Chantal Feitosa-Desouza, and Max Tristan Watkins. The exhibition spans wide-ranging media and highlights the distinct perspectives of these five artists as they complete their final year of study. Presented in The Warhol’s rotating exhibition gallery, the exhibition offers a dynamic exploration of contemporary artmaking.

Vertical Landscapes Exhibition
HK Miller’s latest paintings are an intentional departure from his wide, horizontally formatted paintings of rural landscapes. Now the sky becomes a dominant feature, affecting our spatial perception by placing buildings, pastures, hillsides and trees under a big sky on a vertical format.

INTERMISSION: AN ARTFUL NETWORKING SERIES
It’s National Poetry Month which means we’re celebrating Intermission-style with featured performances by Poet Diarra Imani and Joshua Stone Quartet and sounds by Selecta. The evening will be hosted by Joy Priest from Center for African American Poetry & Poetics and Darin Lee from City of Asylum.

POETRY UNPLUGGED: ALWAYS AUGUST
Join us for the highly anticipated annual event, Poetry Unplugged: Always August, presented with generous support from Citizens. This special evening will feature nationally renowned and award-winning spoken word artists as they take the stage to speak truth to power in the spirit of August Wilson, infusing humor, romance, justice, and equality into their performances.

Hop on over to the Railroaders Memorial Museum for a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt! Kids can search for eggs while families enjoy a day at the museum.

Sound Series: King Hannah
We welcome King Hannah, a Liverpool-based indie rock duo consisting of Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, that blend slowcore, blues, and psychedelic rock with a laid-back authenticity. Their sparse arrangements and ambient textures often draw comparisons to 90s alternative icons Mazzy Star and Portishead. Formed in 2017, they recently released their third album, Big Swimmer, on City Slang Records, featuring Sharon Van Etten on the title track.

Dragonfly Dawn
In Dragonfly Dawn, a cricket’s violin lures a swan to a mystical forest lake, where they dance with dragonfly friends. The peace shatters when an evil harpy attacks, but after a fierce battle, the dragonfly triumphs, soaring in a final aerial display, restoring harmony to the enchanted forest.

LIT FRIDAY – ABIODUN OYEWOLE
LIT Friday welcomes Abiodun Oyewole, Founding Member of The Last Poets for a conversation about using his poetry to articulate, glorify and protest the impurities of the black experience worldwide. The Last Poets will be featured in April 18th’s highly anticipated annual event, Poetry Unplugged: Always August.

YOUTH WRITER’S
The Youth Writers Camp is an inspiring and creative space for middle and high school students passionate about writing. This four-week camp provides an opportunity to explore various forms of writing, from poetry and plays to short stories and songwriting, while connecting with contemporary issues like social justice and the literary legacy of August Wilson.

8th Century Roundtable – King George’s War
In April, we will discuss King George’s War. King George’s War (1744-1748) was the American Theater of the War of Austrian Secession. The war itself too heavy tolls on the northern British colonies in North America.

TRUTHSAYERS DR. ANDRE M. PERRY
TRUTHSayers Speaker series features Dr. Andre M. Perry, author of Black Power Scorecard and Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives and Property in America’s Black Cities. He is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and the director of its Center for Community Uplift as well as a professor of practice of economics at Washington University in St. Louis.

Spring Thaw 2025
Celebrate 115 years of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Friday, May 2, 2025. Good Business: Andy Warhol’s Screenprints
Good Business: Andy Warhol’s Screenprints examines why screenprints are an essential part of Warhol’s body of work. Facilitating experimentation and mass distribution, prints can be simultaneously challenging and accessible.
This exhibition provides insight into the screenprinting process and highlights how Warhol used this technique to explore familiar themes throughout his career. Warhol was many things—a painter, photographer, film director, entrepreneur, and commercial artist. Printmaker is a critical part of that extensive resume.

Delaney Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival
The Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz & Blues Festival brings international, national, regional, and local jazz and blues musicians to downtown Indiana, Pennsylvania for a free, outdoor festival on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend each year. The one-day festival takes place in IRMC Park on North Seventh Street.

Sound Series: Dean Wareham
The Andy Warhol Museum welcomes back Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500, Luna, Dean & Britta) on a tour supporting his fourth solo album, That’s the Price of Loving Me, on Carpark Records, though the career-spanning set will also include some Galaxie 500 and Luna songs. It‘s his first album with producer Kramer since Galaxie 500’s This Is Our Music (1990), and it was recorded in six days in Los Angeles. It features eight new songs, drawing on influences such as Bacharach, Gainsbourg, and Norma Tanega plus covers of Nico and Mayo Thompson. Wareham and Britta Phillips were featured in The Warhol’s commissioned film/music project, 13 Most Beautiful: Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests, which premiered in 2008 and has toured internationally.

Sound Series: Sarah Klang
The Andy Warhol Museum welcomes Sarah Klang, a two-time Swedish Grammis award-winning singer/songwriter known for her emotional and playful autobiographical pop ballads. Klang had this to say about her recently released album Beautiful Woman, “This entire album is a celebration of womanhood and girlhood. It’s about the awkwardness of being a child, a teenager and about understanding your relationship with your body and self in a patriarchal world.” The album was produced by US multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer Eric D. Johnson (Bonny Light Horseman, Fruit Bats, The Shins).

Sound Series: Samantha Crain
We welcome Samantha Crain, a Choctaw Nation singer-songwriter, musician and producer from Oklahoma, to the museum’s intimate theater. She is a two-time Native American Music Award winner and winner of an Indigenous Music Award. Her album A Small Death ranked #25 on NPR’s 50 best of 2020 list and she has toured extensively over the past 11 years nationally and internationally with a range of artists including First Aid Kit, Neutral Milk Hotel, Lucy Rose, The Avett Brothers, The Mountain Goats, and Brandi Carlile.

11th Annual Vintage Pittsburgh Retro Fair
The Senator John Heinz History Center – the Smithsonian’s home in Pittsburgh – will host its 11th annual Vintage Pittsburgh retro fair in partnership with The Neighborhood Flea on Saturday, April 5 , from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An Exquisite Texture of Light: Ajamu X In Conversation with Rainbow Serpent
For more than 30 years, London-based artist Ajamu X has unapologetically celebrated Black queer bodies, the erotic sense, and pleasure as activism. He has been at the forefront of genderqueer photography, challenging dominant ideas around masculinity, gender, sexuality, and the representation of Black LGBTQ+ people.

The HORSEMANSHIP Handwriting and Art Contest Reception
A while back I was approached by Cindy Fulmer of Star Equestrians about exhibiting handwritten stories and art by young people on a theme of horses. Cindy provides equine therapy to help improve mobility and motor skills at her place in nearby Strongstown.

Wisdom & More: The Fracking Debate

Researcher and professor Jamie L. Jones, Ph.D., will present on the 19th century whale oil industry and how it was affected by Drake Well's success in August 1859.

Closing: Pittsburgh Avant-Garde: 60 Years Inside the Underground Art Scene
The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination (IFCI) presents the exhibition Pittsburgh’s Avant-Garde featuring over 50 artists in tandem with the upcoming release of the book Pittsburgh Avant-Garde: 60 Years Inside the Underground Art Scene compiled and edited by Sheila Ali.

Wisdom & More: T.C. Joy Radiator Company
On Thursday, March 6, Dr. Rhonda Clark will present on the T. C. Joy Radiator Company of Titusville. Mr. T. C. Joy originally came to Titusville to make his fortune in the booming oil industry. Although this venture was ultimately a bust, Joy was able to find nationwide success in the manufacture of radiators and other heating-related innovations.

Artists Reception: Jordan Want and THE PORTAL
PRACTICE +/- shares Wong's contemplations and visual dynamism. Building on his recent exhibition, Play is Infinite, at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh (on view until May), this body of work furthers Wong’s imaginative exploration of the Ultimate Self, the endless possibilities of leveling up in life, and the transformative power of play.
