Sogetsu Ikebana: Fundamentals & Techniques with Sogetsu Pittsburgh
Led by Sogetsu Pittsburgh’s founder and principal teachers Reiko Nakajima and Atsumi Sewell, this session will include an introduction to the modern Sogetsu school of Ikebana, a demonstration of the process and key techniques of crafting a basic ikebana arrangement, followed by participants creating their own arrangements with guided instruction and one-on-one feedback.

Darning Socks and Sweaters with Rebecca Harrison of Old Flame Mending
Learn to darn! If you have holes in your clothes, we can help you learn how to fix them yourself! Mend items like sweaters, socks, knit items, and medium weight wovens (i.e. cotten flannel, wool flannel, linen, gauzy fabrics).

Whiskey Rebellion Day
In the early morning of July 16, 1794, 50 angry and armed farmers approached the residence of John Neville, to demand that he turn over the tax records for the Federal excise tax on whiskey. Gunfire was exchanged and several of the farmers were shot...one fatally. On the following day, over 500 farmers surrounded Neville's house, which was now being protected by a dozen U.S. soldiers from Fort Fayette in Pittsburgh.
