Garden Railroad: Bridges and Tunnels Open at Phipps Conservatory
Garden Railroad: Bridges and Tunnels pulls into the station with miniature recreations of iconic western Pennsylvania scenes, bustling with chugging trains and filled with live plants. Featuring classic scenes that residents of the city of bridges will recognize and appreciate, this interactive display is sure to delight guests of all ages.
Soldiers and Sailors to line Fifth Avenue up to the Memorial Plaza with Flags through November
Throughout the month of November, Soldiers & Sailors is asking the public to make a donation and fill the front lawn with flags in honor of our nations’ veterans.
Meanwhile, local companies and individuals will also have the opportunity to sponsor a luminary that will light the flags during the week of Veteran’s Day.
Handmade Arcade Returns for 2021 Holiday Season
Handmade Arcade is excited to announce the participating makers and schedule of events for its In-Person Holiday Market, which returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Saturday, December 4, 2021. This highly anticipated event—the largest holiday market in the region, featuring over 200 talented makers, artists, and craftspeople—has become a staple of holiday festivities in Pittsburgh since it launched in 2004.
Coffee Company to Support Parks with Special Blend
The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and Commonplace Coffee today announced the launch of the Riverview Park Blend, the third release in a limited series celebrating Pittsburgh’s five regional parks.
Last fall, the nonprofit and Commonplace Coffee kicked off their partnership with the launch of the Frick Park Blend, followed by the Schenley Park Blend earlier this year. The Riverview Park Blend is an eight-week release running from the first day of fall through mid-November.
Kennywood’s “Choose the Color” Contest for Phantom’s Revenge Picks a Clear Winner
With nearly 10,000 votes submitted in Kennywood’s “Choose the Color” poll, park fans on social media made their preference overwhelmingly clear: Phantom’s Revenge, recently voted America’s 2nd-best roller coaster, will be painted Petrifying Purple this offseason. With the monumental decision made, park teams now turn their paintbrushes towards another coaster due a fresh coat: Thunderbolt.

Woodville to offer historic dance instruction
In the Eighteenth Century North American colonies , dance was an essential feature of life in which commerce, friendship, romance, politics, position, and intrigues might all interweave freely. Balls in the period were opened with an exhibition dance called the minuet, danced in order of social rank.
Soldiers and Sailors to feature Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in virtual event
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located in Arlington National Cemetery. This program will examine the origins, history and true meaning of the Tomb. Also highlighted will be the Society of the Honor Guard, a non-profit organization created by Tomb Guards, who are committed to protecting and enhancing the welfare and image of the Tomb. This month’s special guest will be retired Tomb Guard Dennis J. McMahon III, Badge #320, Frist Sergeant, US Army (Ret). Please join us as we learn about and pay tribute to one hundred years of sacrifice.

Kennywood Kicks Off 71st Edition of Fall Fantasy Parades
Kennywood, Pittsburgh’s Premier Destination for Thrills and Entertainment, will celebrate 71 years of Fall Fantasy Parades one of the park’s grandest traditions beginning Saturday, August 7. More than 125 marching bands from high schools and colleges throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio will fill Kennywood’s midways with live music during parades on select dates through August 29.
