VIDEO: Rosedale Remembered–A Commemoration of Shame and Commitment to Change
On September 7, 2023, a capacity crowd gathered at the Heritage Discovery Center to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Rosedale incident, in which Johnstown’s mayor ordered all Black people who hadn’t lived in Johnstown for at least seven years to leave. More than 2,000 people were displaced from their homes in response to the racist edict.

History Center Extends Free Admission for Kids
This holiday season, the Heinz History Center, Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, and Fort Pitt Museum are offering free admission for kids aged 17 and under, now through Dec. 31, 2023. Free admission for kids is generously supported by community partners UPMC and UPMC Health Plan in November and Howard Hanna Real Estate Services in December.
CMU School of Art Appoints Alisha Wormsley Asstant Professor of Social Practice
The School of Art is pleased to announce the appointment of Alisha B. Wormsley as Assistant Professor of Art in the area of Social Practice. Wormsley was previously a Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar, Visiting MFA Core Faculty, and Adjunct Professor of Art at CMU. She will begin her new position in Fall 2024.
