Darning Socks and Sweaters with Rebecca Harrison of Old Flame Mending

Description: Learn to darn! If you have holes in your clothes, we can help you learn how to fix them yourself! Mend items like sweaters, socks, knit items, and medium weight wovens (i.e. cotten flannel, wool flannel, linen, gauzy fabrics).

Please come with 2-3 garments to mend. Hold should be no bigger than the size of a clementine/mandarin orange. Items not recommeded: denim, lightweight knot or woven fabrics, t-shirts, leather/suede.

Tuition: $55 + $20 materials fee

Materials: All materials will be provided in a kit that participants can take home with them.

Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops.

Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.

About the Artist: Rebecca Harrison (she) is a sewist, fiber artist, and entrepreneur in Pittsburgh, PA. With a degree in Fibers and Design Sustainability, and a breadth of work history, Rebecca has over a decade of experience in clothing and textiles. Her work has always centered around education, sustainability, production, and creative problem solving. In 2019, Rebecca launched Old Flame Mending.

Old Flame Mending is a Pittsburgh-based sewing service that helps you keep your clothes out of the landfill through repair, tailoring/alterations, and custom work. We offer a wide range of services including but not limited to: denim repair, sweater darning, quilt restoration, and reworking garments.
