The University Museum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is excited to announce its upcoming exhibit, From the Desk of the Architect, which will be on display from September 7th through October 4th, 2024. This captivating exhibit is open to the public and invites visitors to explore the fascinating journey of turning blueprints into the architectural landmarks that shape our community.

To celebrate the opening of this exhibit, the University Museum will host a free public reception on Saturday, September 7th, from 6–8 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy complimentary food and drinks while mingling with fellow architecture enthusiasts and learning more about the intricate processes behind some of Indiana’s most iconic buildings.

From the Desk of the Architect offers a unique glimpse into the artistry and precision involved in architectural design. Visitors will see original blueprints of historical structures such as Sutton Hall, Breezedale, Horace Mann Elementary School, and the Indiana Theater. The exhibit also highlights the transformation of the local fire station from a 2D blueprint to a 3D model and finally to its constructed form.

The exhibit features pieces from the University Museum’s permanent collection, contributions from Nate Heuer, the Historical and Genealogical Society, Upstreet Architects, IUP Special Collections, and the Indiana Theater. Together, these works illustrate the evolution of architectural concepts into tangible spaces that enhance our daily lives.
