Pittsburgh, PA—Handmade Arcade is thrilled to announce its plans for 2022. The nonprofit, which connects artists, craftspeople, and makers with new audiences and professional development opportunities, continues to grow in response to the needs of Pittsburgh’s arts community.

Jazz Time features vocalist Anqwenique as Grandma Rose, a sweet elder who reminisces on the good old days when she was singing gigs with a band of the coolest cats around. Then through the magic of time travel she awakes to music being played by her old band! Now reunited, they sing the old songs that taught her all about jazz music. Songs that explore tempo, dynamics, melody, improvisation and more!

Garden Railroad: Bridges and Tunnels pulls into the station with miniature recreations of iconic western Pennsylvania scenes, bustling with chugging trains and filled with live plants. Featuring classic scenes that residents of the city of bridges will recognize and appreciate, this interactive display is sure to delight guests of all ages.

Handmade Arcade is excited to announce the participating makers and schedule of events for its In-Person Holiday Market, which returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Saturday, December 4, 2021. This highly anticipated event—the largest holiday market in the region, featuring over 200 talented makers, artists, and craftspeople—has become a staple of holiday festivities in Pittsburgh since it launched in 2004.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and Commonplace Coffee today announced the launch of the Riverview Park Blend, the third release in a limited series celebrating Pittsburgh’s five regional parks.

Last fall, the nonprofit and Commonplace Coffee kicked off their partnership with the launch of the Frick Park Blend, followed by the Schenley Park Blend earlier this year. The Riverview Park Blend is an eight-week release running from the first day of fall through mid-November.

With nearly 10,000 votes submitted in Kennywood’s “Choose the Color” poll, park fans on social media made their preference overwhelmingly clear: Phantom’s Revenge, recently voted America’s 2nd-best roller coaster, will be painted Petrifying Purple this offseason. With the monumental decision made, park teams now turn their paintbrushes towards another coaster due a fresh coat: Thunderbolt.
