PA Museums Advocacy and Legislative Update
Pennsylvania's House and Senate are on a break from session days until September with the budget up in the air for now. One lawmaker in the House resigned her seat last week to run for a different office, so that chamber is back to being tied until a special election scheduled for September 19.
Museum Advocacy Update from PA Museums
The PA House and Senate will be in session on June 5 with a full June calendar of session days to hammer out the Commonwealth's 2023-24 budget.. The House Democrats' budget bill advanced, and it is headed to the House Appropriations Committee before final consideration. The bill mirrors what Governor Shapiro proposed in his Executive Budget.
Heinz History Center wins S.K. Stevens Award
The Pennsylvania Historical Association secured a PA Museums Institutional Award of Merit as part of our 2023 Special Achievement Awards, and PA Museums is also recognizing Senator John Heinz History Center with an S.K. Stevens Award for its exhibition on American Democracy.
