History Center Partners with Smithsonian and Museums Nationwide to Host Inspiring Civics Programming
The Senator John Heinz History Center, the Smithsonian’s home in Pittsburgh, will join 400+ museums and organizations nationwide for the Fourth Annual Civic Season, held in partnership with the Smithsonian and the History Made By Us national coalition.
Cowboys on the North Shore, Indians at the Point
There are no official original tribes living in Pennsylvania anymore. Most were sent to Oklahoma, some to New York and Ontario. The people I met were brought to the park by the Fort Pitt Museum and Heinz History Center to share their culture with us for a weekend.
History Center announces second annual "Civic Season"
The Senator John Heinz History Center – the Smithsonian’s home in Pittsburgh – is joining fellow leading civic and history organizations across the United States this month to launch the second annual Civic Season, in partnership with the Made By Us coalition.
Pittsburgh’s public art could be likened to the city’s fingerprint. It is unique, celebratory of local voices, and a testament to its post-industrial landscape.
As public art invites everyone to interact with the creative spirit of Pittsburgh, The (New) Pittsburgh Exposition offers seven public art sites in and around the city that have helped define its civic art scene.
