Description:

The Alpha Terrace Historic District, located within the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, stands as a testament to the city's rich architectural heritage. Comprising twenty-five stone rowhouses erected between 1889 and 1894, the district boasts a captivating blend of Queen Anne and Romanesque revival architectural styles.

Originally, these rowhouses served as a unified block of upper-middle-class rental units until they were individually sold off in the 1950s. Notably, U.S. Steel leased several of these residences to accommodate corporate executives during a certain period.

Recognizing its architectural and historical significance, the block was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 18, 1985. Subsequently, in 1979, it received designation as one of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks, further highlighting its importance. In January 1996, the district garnered additional recognition when it was added to the list of City of Pittsburgh historic designations.
