Silver Eye Interim Exec Letter to Supporters

Hello friends of Silver Eye,

We are so grateful to have had artists Hannah Price and Zeal Eva with us last weekend at Silver Eye's Penn Ave. gallery to open our new exhibitions! With an opening at Unblurred and a brunch reception and exhibition walk-through, both artists spoke generously about their work.

Still Standing presents work of and around Pittsburgh landmarks, made by Hannah Price while a fellow for the National Trust for Historic Preservation's African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. We were honored to have some of Hannah's portrait sitters join us this weekend. Some share close connections with fellow exhibiting artist Zeal Eva, who also spoke generously about her practice and photographs on display in Gentle Landing. Come and see both exhibitions from now through February 10th, 2023.

We're also very excited to announce that Silver Eye is collaborating with the Hill CDC's Nafasi on Centre to present an accompanying exhibition of Hannah Price's powerful portraits. Ten portraits, including a selection not shown at Silver Eye, will be exhibited at Nafasi, 2145 Center Ave, from January 6-20. Our thanks to Corey Carrington and Marimba Milliones for their support of this collaboration, and we'll have more announcements about this in the coming weeks.

Finally, we have a favor to ask. Silver Eye is Western PA's only nonprofit dedicated to contemporary photography. We believe that photography is a powerful tool for self-realization, for the exchange of ideas, and for creative exploration and fulfillment, for artists and audiences alike. Our mission is to promote contemporary photography through our programing, through the support of artists, and by lowering the barriers to creating new bodies of work. We believe that photography can create and strengthen connections between people.

We are grateful to our funders at every level, including foundations and individual supporters. We send a big "thank you!" to all of you who made a donation to Silver Eye on Giving Tuesday. These contributions sustain us and we are humbled by your support.

Please consider contributing to our annual fund with either a one-time contribution or a regular monthly donation so that we can continue to bring powerful photography, meaningful programing, and rich experiences to our communities.

Thank you for your support!

Wishing you the best and hoping to see you soon.

Leo Hsu
Interim Executive Director
