“Taste of Asia” Food Market

The Smithsonian-affiliated Senator John Heinz History Center will host a special public program, Taste of Asia, on Sunday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program will feature a food market and will explore the rich history of Asian American culinary traditions and contributions to Pittsburgh’s food culture. Taste of Asia is presented in partnership with the Japan-America Society of Pennsylvania and the Asia Chamber of America-Pittsburgh.

Attendees can indulge in delicious bites from an assortment of local Asian restaurants, explore the history of Asian American cuisine in Pittsburgh with the Detre Library & Archives, and watch a live cooking demonstration in the Weisbrod Kitchen Classroom to learn new techniques and flavor combinations.

Program participants will be able to engage with local chefs and sample food from participating restaurants such as: 1:11 Juice BarAmy’s Bakery CafeBombay to BurghChengdu Gourmet,Golden Palace Buffet, HungryPandaPF BBQ House, Pho Van, RJSCP Tasties Catering, Shanghai TokyoSzechuan SpiceYotea & Yoka Kitchen, Yue Bai Wei, YuZu Kitchen, Zen Restaurant and Sushi Bar. Restaurant vendors will also have takeaway food available to purchase.
