We welcome Melbourne, Australia-based singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin and her band to Carnegie Lecture Hall. Jacklin’s unique blend of dreamy indie folk/pop and alt-country that she has rapidly crafted over just two solo records has earned comparisons to the likes of Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten. Her first album, Don’t Let the Kids Win (2016) reached the Australian Top 50, and her second album Crushing (2019), has garnered many accolades, including a Libera Award for best new independent folk/bluegrass album. Singer-songwriter Cassandra Jenkins, whose latest album, Overview on Phenomenal Nature, has received much critical praise (including Pitchfork’s Best New Music mention), opens the evening.
