Have you heard?! KST has a big, ambitious fundraiser coming up on Saturday, July 22. It’s called House Party, and I’d really love for you to attend. The funds we raise through ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations will help us bring exciting programming to our community this Fall 2023. Last year, House Party helped us present 115 artists and, believe it or not, 450 distinct productions, classes, and rehearsals. Whoa! House Party for the win!

You ask, “But why would I suffer from Fear of Missing Out? That syndrome was toppled by the pandemic.” OK, I hear you. Staying home is great, but if you’re like me, sometimes you just have to see the big world and all the brilliant people around you. What better place to do that than at Kelly Strayhorn Theater where you know you’ll meet interesting folks and see old friends? And, you can have your tarot read by Amber the Witch! Did you know I had my tarot read before applying to the ED role at KST? The reader pulled a stork which symbolizes change, journey, arrival/departure, and new cycles. Auspicious!
But wait, that’s not all…you can look like a temporary badass for one night by visiting artist Zhen Lee for your KST original tattoo. I will personally thank the first person to get a whole sleeve. It’ll look great during the dance party, where artist Scott Andrew has created original projections for the historic lobby walls. Make sure you take a look while you’re bumping and grinding to music spun by DJ Shoe and DJ QRX. *Please note that KST does not condone nor shame bumping and grinding. Do your thang! It’s your night!
If you need any more convincing, we have drinks by Brew Gentlemen and McQueen and the Violet Fog and delicious bites during the VIP reception from Sprezzatura. Remember to take a picture at the Moxie Photobooth before indulging too much!
OK, one more bribe just because it’s fun. You will be the first to see what I wear. Platforms? Fuschia? Fringe? A Black Monday original business suit? You won’t know unless you attend (or wait for pictures, but who wants to wait?!).
