Earth Day Walks at Powdermill Nature Reserve

  • Powdermill Nature Reserve (map)

Explore the trails with your choice of hike through the nature reserve. During each walk we’ll demonstrate how to use the iNaturalist app to upload photos of nature to identify birds, plants, fungi, and more. All walks are family-friendly and meet at the Nature Center. Registration is recommended to guarantee your spot. If there are spots available at the time of the program, non-registered individuals can join on a first-come, first-served basis.

9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Porcupine Ridge: This is a strenuous hike that can be steep at times, with a vertical ascent of over 500 feet. Sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended.

1:15 p.m.–2:45 p.m. Sugar Camp Trail: This is a moderate, at times muddy hike with gradual slopes. We recommend good hiking shoes.

3 p.m.–4 p.m. Black Birch Trail: This is a mostly level and graveled trail, perfect for an easier, shorter hike.
