Description:
The Woodland Hills Academy, located at 126 Monroeville Avenue in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, is a historic educational building originally constructed in 1917 as Turtle Creek High School and designed by architect George Henry Schwan in the Classical Revival style. Built between 1917 and 1919, the structure earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places on August 30, 2007, and was designated a Historic Landmark by the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation in 2009. In 2009, the building was thoughtfully repurposed and reopened as Woodland Hills Academy, serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade within the Woodland Hills School District. Today, it stands not only as a cherished architectural artifact but also as a vibrant middle school and STEAM-focused elementary school, continuing to serve the community’s educational needs at the historic site .
