Description:

This farm showcases a remarkable architectural specimen known as an I-House, dating back to around 1880, alongside an 1845 log barn. The I-House, a prevalent farmhouse design in this region during the latter part of the 19th century, features a two-story, side-gabled structure typically one room deep. This architectural style, recognized by cultural geographers in the 1930s, holds strong associations with rural life in the southwestern counties of Western Pennsylvania and later spread into the Midwest.

The barn stands out as a noteworthy example of its kind, notable for its functional design that seamlessly integrates various agricultural activities. From processing grain to housing animals and storing fodder, the barn efficiently accommodates these essential functions under a single roof.
