Description:

Allegheny High School, situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is housed within a building dating back to 1904. This architectural gem earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Among its notable alumni are William N. Robson, a renowned writer, director, and producer from the old-time radio era, and Dorothy Mae Richardson, a prominent African American community activist whose contributions were instrumental in establishing the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation.

Adding to its legacy, the school had the privilege of hosting Willa Cather, the celebrated American novelist, who served as a teacher of English and Latin and eventually assumed leadership of the English department.

Presently, the historic building serves as home to Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8, a magnet school located in the vibrant North Side community.
