Titusville Area Placemaking: Public Art Project
LET'S LIVEN UP THE DOWNTOWN TOGETHER!
Mission: We are looking to wrap our utility boxes in thedowntown with artwork from local artists! See image to the right.
Theme: We are looking for your artwork to reflect fun facts or history about Titusville, PA. Here are something things to get you started:
-Ruth Harkness and the first US panda
-Skyline Plastics (Poux family, hula hoops, & Grex plastic)
-John Heisman
-Edwin Garnet Riley (poet)
-Dr. Edith Cadwallader
-Wizard of Oz (L Frank Baum's father drilled in the Oil Region)
-Colonel Drake Hotel/Mansion House
-Justice Bell's visit to Titusville (part of women's suffrage)
-Penn Theater
-Queen Cutlerv
-Wax production for Crayola crayons
-Ida Tarbell
-and more! Surprise us
Due Date: Designs are due June 15th. Artists will be notified by June 30th if their artwork has been selected.
Details: Participating artists must live in the Oil Region (Venango County, Titusville, Hydetown, Oil
Creek Township)
-All mediums, except photography, are accepted (i.e. watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastels, colored pencils, collage, and more). Please note: if you are working digitally, we must have a minimum resolution of 150 dpi.
-All artwork must be original to the artist.
-We will be wrapping the front and back side of the utility box. Therefore your artwork must be able to be "cut" in half or submit two cohesive pieces of art.
Dimensions/Drawing Scale: One image, to be "cut" in half - Full scale 60" tall x 72" wide (minimum reduced
scale 15" tall x 18"' wide) Two cohesive images - 60" tall x 36" wide (minimum reduced scale 15" tall x9"
wide.

All ages are welcome. If you are under 18 years of age, we will need parental/guardian permission when submitting your artwork.
-You must include a detailed summary explaining your artwork and how it relates to a fun fact and/or piece of history about Titusville, PA.
-Designs are due June 15th. You will submit your designs/artwork via a google form on our website at: www.tapintotitusvillepa.com/public-art/
*By submitting your artwork, you give us permission to use it in advertising, publications, social media, and on utility boxes.
