The doors are open again after six weeks of major demolition and reconstruction at Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC), one of the top public access glass art centers in the US. No “h”, what gives?!
In 1891, the United States Board on Geographic Names established thirteen general principles for standardizing place names. One of these principles dictated that place names ending in -burgh should omit the final -h. Consequently, during this period, the city's name was spelled as "Pittsburg."
