Oil City Main Street Program Public Survey

The Oil City Main Street Program has begun preparing a voluntary design guide that will be tailored to Oil City’s three National Register-listed historic districts and other historic properties in Oil City. A consulting team has been retained to assist with this effort. The resulting design guide will provide guidance to property owners, tenants, contractors, design professionals, tradespeople, and others about the treatment and maintenance of historic buildings and properties. Use of the design guide will be encouraged to maintain and enhance Oil City’s authentic community character. No laws or regulations are proposed. Use of the design guide will be voluntary.

Funding for this work is supported by a Keystone Grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Additional funding was provided by the National Park Service via the Oil Region Alliance, Hart Family Fund for Small Towns of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Northwest Charitable Foundation, Inc., Mr. & Mrs. Henry B. Suhr, Jr., and Take Pride in Oil City.

Public input is important to the process of preparing design guidelines that are meaningful and useful. Completion of this survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes. You may remain anonymous or provide your contact information at the end of the survey to receive additional public notices about this project. Please forward this survey to others who might like to respond. The survey will remain open for responses until at least August 15, 2021.
