New Collective - What Have We Done

The Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media is thrilled to announce this year's Guild Member New Collective exhibition, What Have We Done, featuring art work by Issac Bower, Michelle Browne, Doug Eberhardt, Gerry Florida, Arron Foster, Sarika Goulatia, Scott Hunter, Maria Kretschman, Maria Mangano, Angela Pasquale, Aaron Regal, Laura Tabakman & Matt Van Asselt. The exhibition will open to the public on Friday, November 15th with a reception from 6-9pm that will include a special performance by Women of Visions member, Betty Douglas and her Jazz Trio. This exhibition will be on view through January 19, 2020, with special holiday gallery hours in December only: Sunday 12pm – 5pm; Monday 10am – 5pm; Tuesday - Thursday 10am – 7pm; and Friday & Saturday 10am – 5pm. There will also be an artist led tour of the exhibit on Thursday, December 5, 6-8pm.

Every three years Guild Members of the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media are invited to submit work for a juried group exhibition called The New Collective. This year, they invited a guest-curator, Tina Dillman, to organize an exhibition around selected guild members, and What Have We Done, is the product of her studio visits with selected artists. Each participating artist will exhibit new work that was either created for this exhibit, or recently made and never shown in the area. Mediums included in this exhibition: print, painting, sculpture, jewelry, film, and performance. There will also be a few site-specific installations created especially for the Center highlighting the theme of the show, which is a post-apocalyptic take on the aftermath of human intervention. Through this clouded lens that has been polluted by corporations, greed, and the selfishness of a few, it has left the majority of us suffocating, grasping for a breathe of fresh air. The artists in this exhibition explore the possible ramifications of the mistreatment of the planet, and propose a grim narrative of the not so distance future.

During the run of the exhibition there will be Artist Led Workshops held on Saturdays 1-3pm in the Flex Space on the first floor of the Marshall Building. These workshops are designed for guests to pop in while at the Center shopping and/or visiting the galleries. All events affiliated with this exhibit are free and open to the public.
