Handmade Arcade Announces 30 Emerging Makers Featured in April 30th Spring Market

Handmade Arcade will feature 30 brand new artists, craftspeople, and makers at its third annual Spring Market on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Selected out of almost 200 applicants, this diverse group of regional artists hand craft products from playful clothing to joyful accessories to bold, colorful home decor. Hosted at Construction Junction in Pittsburgh’s East End, this free market also features live artist demonstrations, delicious fare from local food trucks, and more.

2021 Pop-up Market at Construction Junction

Handmade Arcade, the region's largest maker-supporting nonprofit, connects small business owners with meaningful opportunities to reach new customers, advance their professional development skills, and succeed in a competitive creative market. Formerly called Show and Sell, the Spring Market is a unique opportunity for independent up-and-coming makers to gain practical market experience in a friendly community setting and develop a wider customer base.

“This event is a critical part of Handmade Arcade’s mission to support the creative economy and ensure that independent makers have access to the resources, network, and platform they need to thrive,” says Tricia Brancolini-Foley, Executive Director. “The Spring Market provides an entry point for makers who have yet to participate in larger in-person markets, helping them learn the ropes and training them on industry best practices. We’re thrilled to collaborate with such an amazing array of artists, who represent the diverse range of creative talent that our region has to offer.”

A neighborhood block party

The Spring Market is more than an opportunity to shop for unique products and meet new makers. This event will come alive with inspiring artist demonstrations, delicious fare from local food trucks, and take-home DIY kits for purchase.

Artist demonstrations include blacksmithing by Protohaven, a sustainable woven words installation by Handmade Arcade and Scrapwerx, and collaborative poetry writing from Haley Clancy of A Poem’s Purpose. Food will be provided by Sprezzatura and Hermes Food Truck, with coffee, pastries, and non-alcoholic craft drinks by Pittsburgh Mobile Bars.

This event is free and does not require registration. The market will follow the COVID-19 safety measures of Construction Junction.
