Contemporary Craft featured artist of the month Tanya Crane

Contemporary Craft is excited to have jewelry artist Tanya Crane as our Featured Artist of the Month! Tanya is the latest guest on our podcast Sounds from the Studio, and will be teaching a visiting artist workshop on painting and drawing on enamel.

Her work dwells within a liminal existence between prejudice and privilege, informed by her dual existence as a person of mixed race. Tanya is a Professor of the Practice in Metals at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts in Boston and a professional jewelry artist and metalsmith. She has taught workshops on enameling at prestigious craft institutions and in academic settings for the past 20 years while maintaining a rigorous studio practice in Providence, Rhode Island.

Tanya was a 2022 Artist in Residence at Indigo Arts Alliance in Portland, Maine. She exhibited her work in a solo exhibition at the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee in 2018. Tanya's work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Stewart Program for Modern Design in Montreal, Canada, Yale University Art Gallery, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Crocker Museum and the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.
