What is aProdigal? For Trunzo it is, “a biblical reference my maternal grandmother frequently used in the pejorative to describe my cousins and myself when we returned home after being away at school --or from jobs that took us across the country or globe.”

She notes that her grandmother’s use of “prodigal” suggested that, “by coming and going we lacked connection to our past. However - it is often through the telephoto lens of distance and return that we can see such things more clearly.” Works in ink on heavy paper, and wax encaustic examination of wounds from “non-lethal” weapons, reveal a perplexing beauty. An urgency. Characters of her internal movie and sound-track. “I say ‘Its like I’ve got an itch - and I’ll do whatever it takes to scratch it until I get relief” I have not yet found relief - and this body of work will continue to evolve until I do.”
