On Saturday, September 11, 2021, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, the Washington County Historical Society will host its5th annual SPIRITS IN THE GARDEN event in Madeleine’s Garden at the LeMoyne House, 49 East Maiden Street, Washington, Pa. Our hostess will once again be Madeleine LeMoyne Reed, the “First Lady of Washington.”  Guests will mingle with Madeleine and other prominent figures from Washington County’s past while enjoying locally-distilled spirits, great food & non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, and special performances.  At this year’s SPIRITS IN THE GARDEN, we will be celebrating the patriotic service of some of Washington County’s sons and daughters.

Madeleine LeMoyne Reed – Daughter of Dr. Francis LeMoyne, Spirits in the Garden hostess, and "First Lady of Washington."
Captain Samuel Brady – Revolutionary War veteran, Militia Scout, and frontier hero.
Dr. Josephine Stephens – Local physician who served as a doctor in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.
Captain Hugh Patterson Boon – Civil War veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient.
