Contemporary Craft’s (CC) annual Out of Hand gala is back this year, and will mark the first major event in the organization’s new home in Upper Lawrenceville. A celebration of craft and creativity, the event will feature hands-on making activities and highlight a new partnership with local artist Nisha Blackwell of Knotzland, all while raising money for CC’s free community events and educational programming.
Activities for the evening include the opportunity to make your own fibula pin in CC’s new Studio spaces, live art demonstrations, a silent auction with hundreds of art objects and experiences, music by Soy Sos, and food and beverages from Pittsburgh’s finest purveyors.
This year’s event will also serve as the release party for a new Knotzland product line that reflects the creativity and energy of Contemporary Craft. This line of limited-edition bowties and lavallières are made from fabrics that were printed by CC Executive Director Rachael Saul Rearick.
