You will learn how to let your brush go and allow the paint to bleed the way it naturally wants to. We will explore expressive color and how to create vivid and stunning pieces with the application of color theory. Are you afraid of color? This course teaches you how to gain mastery over it, so you can express your art the way you visualize it in your mind. We will stray far from representational art into a world of expressive art, where colors undulate, and forms take up movement.
This is a beginner’s course, and we will be working with still life subjects, however, these lessons can be applied to any kind of painting and any subject matter. We will work quickly, allowing our hands to move at a natural pace. I find if you approach any painting as if it is a study, you will be more successful with it. Forget needling out details. We will be dropping wet colors into wet color, and will not be using any lines to define edges. Our work will appear abstract, because they are studies in color, brushwork, and composition. I will teach you how to paint with gusto, and confidence. Even if you think you've made a mistake, we will work towards turning it into a deliberate decision. Most of all, we will have fun delving into a world of color and fluid forms!
