#notwhite collective 2016-2022

  • SPACE Gallery 812 Liberty Avenue Pittsburgh, PA, 15222 United States (map)

EXCAVATING histories.

EXPOSING realities.

EXORCISING oppression.

The #notwhite collective returns to the SPACE Gallery for their retro/prospective exhibition, #notwhite collective 2016-2022 featuring past and current, individual and collaborative works of the collective, embodying the diversity of their practices and the plurality of their voices. The works range from tenderness to rage, from beauty to disgust, from the familiar to the bizarre. This exhibition is a sharing of their experiences, how they connect to their identities, families, bodies; it is a marker towards their future and it is the beginning of furthering their hearts into the land and space they call home.

The #notwhite collective is a group of 13 women artists whose mission is to use non-individualistic, multi-disciplinary art to make their stories visible as they relate, connect, and belong to the Global Majority. The exhibition features work by members Alison Zapata, Dr. Amber Epps, Carolina Loyola-Garcia, Madame Dolores, Fran (Ledonio) Flaherty, Geña, Liana Maneese, Maggie Lynn Negrete, Maritza Mosquera, Sara Tang, Sarika Goulatia,Veronica Corpuz, and Zena Ruiz. www.notwhitecollective.com Please follow the #notwhite collective @notwhitecollective on Facebook and Instagram
