Spring sprouts the annual Indiana High School Senior Art Show. “Until We Meet Again” is their hopeful theme this year. Art teacher Beth Porter is bringing more art students than ever before to the gallery to display an amazing range of work. Now, I haven’t spoken to all of the students, but I do remember in some distant past leaving behind my high school chums and setting off for life’s big adventures. In displaying their marks on canvas, clay and paper these artists open their hearts and minds at the outset of their big adventure. They will leave impressions on us. Help us to see what they see. Or better yet, what we see through them. And their friendships? Some will diminish. And some will flourish and grow through temporary absences.
Whatever time brings to this turning point in young lives, we have their work. Their art. And each piece can speak to us. We may not see some of these artists in person ever again. But we can always meet them. Again. Whenever we turn our gaze on that cherished work of art that they created.
