Femmes de la Musique

  • Marilyn Horne Museum and Exhibit Hall (map)

Join us Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m. for an intimate recital in the museum's Fenice Theater. Violinist Kiyoe Matsuura and pianist Sun Change will perform works by French women composers. The performance will last approximately one hour with a brief intermission before the last sonata.

Music includes works by Pauline Viradot-Garcia, the famous 19th-century soprano, Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, a Baroque-era musician and composer, Germaine Tailleferre, who died in the late 1980s, Lili Boulanger, the first woman to be awarded the coveted Prix de Rome for composition, and Louise Farrenc, a virtuoso pianist and composer of the Romantic period.
