Elemental Fiber

  • Contemporary Craft - BNY Mellon Satellite Gallery 500 Grant Street Pittsburgh, PA, 15219 United States (map)

For immediate release:

Contemporary Craft's (CC) BNY Mellon Satellite Gallery in Downtown Pittsburgh is featuring a selection of vibrant works by mixed media artist Kathy Nida in its new exhibition, Elemental Fiber. This free, public exhibition is presented in concert with Contemporary Craft and Brew House Association's exhibition, Fiberart International 2019 and will be on view through August 18, 2019.

A printmaking and fiber artist from California, Nida creates fabric narratives by translating her dreams into artworks. Through the six artworks in Elemental Fiber, Nida explores public issues such as women’s rights, climate change, gun control, and other social topics through art. The artist mines her subconscious and conscious — good and bad memories— and reconciles them to transcend the commonplace with fabric, beads, embroidery, paint, and pen.

CC’s BNY Mellon Satellite Gallery is located at 500 Grant St, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (in the Lobby of the Steel Plaza T-Station at Oliver Street and Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh). This exhibit is opened daily through midnight. For more information, please see the attached press release or contact Stephanie Sun at ssun@contemporarycraft.org or at 412-261-7003.
