BOOM Concepts March Unblurred

“Moving Forward” is a phrase coined for transitioning between feeling, atmospheres, and mindsets. Kuwame “Kwam” Kinsel and DeVaughn “Bruhtha Guru” Rodgers challenge the audience to ask themselves what they truly value, what are some unconscious burdens, and how way you respond to social circumstance. The mixed media display creates an atmosphere for the audience to reflect on their own vices, relationships and situations to evaluate their dedication to self and “Move Forward”.

About The Artists:

DeVaughn “Bruhtha Guru” Rodgers is a homegrown artist, educator, student, and mentor which has informed his name as a self-proclaimed Guru. Originally inspired by his uncle’s comics as a child, his urge to create dynamic figures and capture motion with a pencil started early. Though he is most comfortable with pencil, paper, and an eraser, he has been spending the last few years expanding his craft. He is experimenting with paint, pastels, and other mediums all in search of an authentic style to call his own. Born and raised all over the eastside of Pittsburgh, he has always been involved in the arts and culture. As an older brother, he has always taken on the role of mentor and provider.  Now he functions as one of the core members of the Boom Concepts team as one of his many hats. Through his life experiences, he has been honing his skills as an artist and defining his passions as an educator and mentor. Through his art, he hopes to give the world a glimpse of what his life experiences have helped him to become today.
