The method of stab binding to hold paper together has been around since the conception of the book some 2,000 years ago. Even today, it remains a binding of choice due to its simplicity, effectiveness, and cost. Unlike most book forms, stab-bound books use single sheets of paper - no folding is required!
Join Cindy Ferrari in learning this book making technique, and create your very own traditional Japanese stab-bound book and a second bound with a variation in the stitch, using both soft and hard-covered boards.
Bring any cover materials that you would like to use - photos, printed images, artwork, canvas, fabric, magazine pages, maps, fabric, recycled materials - whatever you find appealing! A variety of techniques for developing cover materials will also be demonstrated in this class.
