Dates: Saturday, August 14 & Sunday, August 15, 2021
Time: 3-5pm
Location: Union Project, 801 N Negley Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, outside on side lawn
Lineup: Gia Cacalano (dance), Chardaé Jones (poetry) and Janet Watkins (ceramics).
Artist Projects:
Gia Cacalano will invite audience members to move and explore within the shared space through meditation and a sensory experience. She will then share an excerpt of a work in progress called, “The box”, that is inspired by the blurring of roles between the public and performer and the creation of an interactive performance environment.
Chardaé Jones will be reading from American Hurt: A Poetry Collection that she released in November 2019. She writes, “Poetry always did make me vulnerable. This is a journey unveiling America’s faults through poetic words. It’s as complex as my appreciation for my freedom of speech that allows me to honestly reflect on this country. This country has made so many strides towards progress but has so very far to go. I stand by every word in every poem down to the punctuation.”
Janet Watkins will be displaying her figurative ceramic wares that are both functional and ornamental. She will also be doing an interactive project with guests, as each person will walk away with their own seed bomb, which will be made from clay, soil and a variety of seeds.
