Drake Well Museum and Park will host its Annual Fall Gas-Up, sponsored by the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society, on Saturday, September 11th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This year's event will showcase engines made in New York State, including Drake Well's Luther Eclipse engine. The event will include a family-friendly day of viewing operating and stationary antique engines, farm and oil field equipment, and models along with indoor and outdoor museum exhibits throughout the 240-acre historic site.
The Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society is comprised of members from the tri-state area whose interests are the restoration and preservation of a wide variety of “hit & miss” gas engines ranging in size from small Maytag engines used with washing machines to large oil field engines used to pump many oil wells at one time. Drake Well Museum’s Olin gas engine and pumping wells will be operating that day.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for Seniors, $5 for children. Admission is free for the members of Friends of Drake Well. There will be food and beverages available for purchase from the Hydetown VFD Auxiliary.
