A History of Corsets Presentation and Display

  • Woodville Plantation (map)

Corsets have been a fascination (and even a bit of a horror!) to many a modern person. In this presentation, the Pittsburgh Historical Costume Society will take through time as they allow you to explore the evolution of corsets and stays, along with some of the other necessary undergarments that were worn through the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries.

Also learn of some of the cultural history behind the corsets and stays, some popular misunderstandings with these garments, and what the purpose of wearing them actually were. There will also be a clothing display to peruse.

The presentation and clothing display will take place on Sunday, August 30 at 3PM, with House Tours taking place from 1PM – 2:45PM

Admission:

Adult (House Tour + Presentation) – $17.00

Adult (Presentation Only) – $10.00

Students 6-17, Seniors (House Tour + Presentation) – $10.00

Students 6-17, Children Under 6, Seniors, NHA Members (Presentation Only) – $5.00
