Location:
441 Station St, Bridgeville, PA 15017
Description:
Located in the former Penn Central Railroad station—once serving the busy local branch lines—the Bridgeville Area Historical Society now occupies that historic station structure, which later housed the Bridgeville Public Library. Building on the legacy of the original train depot, the society preserves and showcases a wealth of photos, documents, artifacts, and memorabilia reflecting the rich heritage of Bridgeville and its surrounding communities.
The station building itself is a visual landmark: a modest, early railroad depot adapted to serve readers and researchers for decades and now reconfigured as a full-fledged history center. Inside, visitors encounter vertical and horizontal filing cabinets overflowing with local business records, maps, and family histories; larger display cabinets hold tangible relics from Bridgeville’s everyday life—everything from vintage merchandise to photographic archives. Regular exhibits highlight neighborhood sports heritage, area schools, local industries, and veteran stories. The society is run by a dedicated group of volunteers and hosts a series of free public lectures and programs throughout the year. If you ever want to drop by, the center is open Tuesday through Friday during midday hours.
