McKees Rocks Bridge
Location:
McKees Rocks Bridge, Pittsburgh, PA 15233
Description:
The McKees Rocks Bridge, a steel trussed through arch bridge, spans the Ohio River at Brighton Heights and McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, to carry Pittsburgh's innermost beltline, the Blue Belt. Situated west of the city, it holds the distinction of being the longest bridge in Allegheny County, stretching over 7,293 feet (2,223 m). Constructed in 1931, this historic bridge earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Notably, the segment of the bridge extending from Island Avenue succeeded the O'Donovan Bridge, which connected Island Avenue to the "Bottoms" of McKees Rocks from 1904 to 1931.
