Historic Hall House (circa 1848) is a beautifully restored historic home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the oldest existing home in Jefferson County Pennsylvania located on Main Street Brookville.
Hall House was built by pioneering lumberman Joseph E. Hall in the Greek Revival "temple with wings" style featuring a classic central portico supported by four 2-story fluted ionic columns carved from solid trees.
After Joseph E. Hall Other prominent owners of this building included Robert. J. Nicholson, John. S. King and Richard & Rebecca M. Arthurs. In the 1950's, after 100 years as a private home the building was donated to the town and became the Rebecca M. Arthurs Public Library.
In the 1970s Hall House was purchased and renovated for use as offices and apartments by Dr. William Mark McKinley. In this period, the restored building was recognized as a unique example of Greek Revival classical architecture and individually designated on the Pennsylvania and the National Register of Historic Places. The building was then sold to local historian David Taylor.
By 2019 Hall House was again in need of a major restoration. It was purchased by Arthur C McKinley who then updated and transformed it inside and out while respecting the buildling's history, architecture and artistic details. In 2021 Historic Hall House reopened as an upscale Bed & Breakfast / Boutique Hotel featuring period antiques, a painting gallery and event space
