Description:
The historic building in Charleroi, Pennsylvania known as the First National Bank of Charleroi has a rich history dating back to its completion in 1922. Originally serving as a bank, the building has since undergone various transitions and is presently occupied by Ductmate Industries. Its significance was recognized with its listing on the National Register of Historic Places on February 7, 2007.
Constructed between 1919 and 1922, the First National Bank of Charleroi was repurposed from the former Wilbur Hotel. The architectural design was overseen by William Lee Stoddart, an architect based in New York City.
Throughout its existence, the First National Bank of Charleroi experienced changes in ownership. In the 1970s, it was acquired by the First National of Bank and Trust Company of Washington, Pennsylvania, which later became part of Gallatin Bank of Fayette County in 1980. Subsequently, Gallatin Bank was absorbed by Integra Bank of Pittsburgh. However, in 1997, following Integra Bank's acquisition by National City Bank of Cleveland, Ohio, the building ceased operations.
In 2002, Ductmate Industries acquired the building and embarked on a rehabilitation project to convert it into their headquarters, ensuring its continued use and preservation.
