Description:

The Elmer H. Grimm Sr. Pharmacy Museum offers School of Pharmacy students, faculty, alumni, and the community a chance to step back to a bygone era in pharmacy. Opened in the fall of 1996 and located on the fourth floor of Salk Hall, the museum portrays pharmacies as they looked in the early 20th century.

The museum is named in memory of Elmer H. Grimm Sr., a 1919 alumnus who opened his drugstore in Herminie, Westmoreland County. He is the second of thirteen Grimm and family members to graduate from the School of Pharmacy. Elmer's grandson Donald W. Grimm, Pharm ’63, Bus ’70, and his wife, Kathryn, provided the funds to build the museum. The design by Dewi Wong recreates a corner pharmacy storefront and the architectural work by John Sysko brought it to life.
