Description:

The Beechdale Bridge, alternatively referred to as the Burkholder Bridge, stands as a cherished historical landmark in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Situated southwest of Berlin, Township Route 548 traverses Buffalo Creek via this covered bridge. Constructed in 1870 by an unidentified builder, this Burr truss bridge is county-owned. Noteworthy for its unique design, the bridge features low sidewalls, allowing much of its structure to remain visible. Among the 10 covered bridges in Somerset County, the Beechdale Bridge holds a prominent place. Its historical significance led to its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
