Description:

The Bowman Homestead, located in North Versailles Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is a 2+1⁄2-story brick farmhouse erected in 1846 by George Bowman. Reflecting a blend of the Western Pennsylvania vernacular and Greek Revival architectural styles, the house was constructed using timber sourced from the property and bricks fired nearby.

George Bowman relocated to Western Pennsylvania during the early 1800s and entered into marriage with Eliza Mellon, sister of Judge Thomas Mellon and aunt to Andrew Mellon, the future Secretary of the Treasury.

Acknowledging its historical significance, the Bowman Homestead was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
