You spoke and we listened!

Thanks to the input of museum enthusiasts like you, we’ve added three new museums to the PGH Museums directory! We are thrilled to welcome the McCandless / Northern Allegheny Heritage Center, Trundle Manor, and the Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum!

We appreciate all of your support and helping us to build PGH Museums. When dealing with hundreds of museums, galleries, and historic places across 17 counties we have definitely overlooked a few. Your help is vital! One of our staff members, Brian, even mentioned Trundle as an example of a great museum in our region so we were surprised to discover we missed it on the directory.

Here is some information on the new museums for you to explore!

McCandless / Northern Allegheny Heritage Center: In 2014, the Town of McCandless and the North Allegheny School District launched a collaborative effort to house the longtime collection of local history buff Joseph Bullick. Since the inception of the partnership, the community has shown an outpouring of support. Contributing community members have donated countless hours and materials for the careful planning of this project, which will benefit generations to come. Town Manager Toby Cordek said, “With all the spirit that Joe Bullick has put into collecting these items for the community, the community had to respond, and the Town stepped up to provide a permanent home.”

Trundle Manor: Trundle Manor is an old fashioned part of roadside America. Trundle Manor is currently the headquarters of the Secret Society of Odd Acquisition and is curated by the eccentric Mr Arm and Velda Von Minx. Built in 1910, Trundle Manor has become a place where a culmination of years of insane collecting and creating has found its niche. See their vast array of jarred animals, antique taxidermy, things for which to murder with, old world charm, sadistic medical devices, coffins and coffin like items, Steampunk influenced creations, cryptozoology, and any other thing your twisted mind will want to look at. Nothing in the Manor is rubber, latex, or fake, (except Uncle Trundle)!

Western Pennsylvania Model Railroad Museum: The WPMRM is a nonprofit organization located in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, at the intersection of Rt. 910 and Hardt Rd. Our purpose is to promote and preserve the history of railroads in Western Pennsylvania through the hobby of model railroading. Their mission is: to continue the development of a museum which captures in miniature a portion of western Pennsylvania history; to expand the library which houses a collection of reference materials on railroad industry and resources on model railroading; to serve as an educational resource for the people of western Pennsylvania.
