Guests will be blown away by the roar of the glass furnace and the heated spontaneity of the glass art auction on Friday, September 17 at the Art on Fire/Meltdown Celebration and Auction. Art on Fire/Meltdown is Pittsburgh Glass Center's (PGC) main fundraiser and Pittsburgh's only glass art auction. Everyone is invited to this reimagined combination celebration chaired by Amy and Adam Polcyn to celebrate PGC's 20-year anniversary.

Limited Capacity. Attendance will be limited to 300 guests to ensure that all attendees have room to safely enjoy the party.

Outside + Inside Options. The building will be open, but most activities will take place outside under a tent. The live auction, refreshments, and live streaming glassblowing demonstrations will take place outside. Guests will be welcome inside to watch the live glassblowing demonstrations, view the auction items, enjoy refreshments, and buy glass pumpkins.

Online Silent Auction. The silent auction will be held online and accessible to all with a smart device starting one week prior to Art on Fire/Meltdown. Ticket holders will also have access to the glassblowing demonstrations and live auction on YouTube if they prefer to enjoy the party at home.

Tickets can be purchased online for $150. There are two ways to participate.

Party @ Home - This option includes an invitation for a private guided tour to preview the auction items at PGC, online access to the live auction and glassblowing demonstrations on YouTube, a handmade glass, a beverage, and cocktail snacks.

Pittsburgh Glass Center cultivates an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages everyone, from the casually curious to the master artist, to learn, create, and be inspired by glass. All proceeds support local artists and programs at Pittsburgh Glass Center.

History of Art on Fire and Meltdown

Pittsburgh Glass Center opened its doors in 2001 on Penn Avenue in the East End of Pittsburgh, PA. The first five fundraisers, called Meltdown, were held at PGC and featured a glass auction and hot glass demonstrations with renowned artists.

In 2007, American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) invited PGC into its new headquarters building on Pittsburgh's South Side and hosted the auction and party which allowed PGC to further expand its audience. The event was renamed Art on Fire and was held at AEO for 10 years. For the last few years, Art on Fire has been held in various locations and virtually last year. To celebrate 20 years, PGC is excited to bring the 2021 event back to the location where it all began.
