Living History Summer Camp Goes Virtual at Bushy Run Battlefield

From August 3-7, the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society, Inc. (BRBHS) will host its first ever Living History Virtual Summer Camp.

For one week, school age children will immerse themselves in Native American life in Western Pennsylvania. Participants will view videos, participate in a competition, and produce crafts used by Native Americans while learning the history behind the Battle of Bushy Run. Activities will include creating your own camp T-shirt, making Native arts and crafts, learning to use a bow and arrow, building an American Indian village replica, learning about the Three Sisters, and  viewing art and artifacts from Bushy Run’s collection.

Registration information can be found on Bushy Run’s website at https://bushyrunbattlefield.com/summer-camp/. The deadline to register is Saturday, July 18. Upon registering, families will be given access to the virtual camp materials and the schedule for the week. On Sunday, August 2 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, registered children will have the opportunity to pick up all craft supplies and other physical materials for the camp at Bushy Run Battlefield.
