Letter from Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society President

Summer greetings,

I’m going to give a few updates on things that have been happening at the site.

After being closed for more than  two weeks due to installation of our new lavatory system we are open and back in business.

With authorization from PHMC the contractors have finished installing the new lavatory  system by using the latest technological advancements.  The carpet tiles were removed and the floor in the back of the museum was dug in the process to allow placement of the new system.  The artifacts and some of the cabinets were moved to avoid any damage while the work was being done. Everything is back in place and the carpeted area in the museum has been professionally cleaned. It does looks great!

The two big flag poles have been painted and new ropes installed as well. New flags are in place and if you look up on the hill behind the museum you’ll see a new Iroquois flag and a Red Ensign flag flying over Iroquois Hill.

The  two  main entrance signs and all of the wayside signs have been cleaned and polished.  Both the Edge Hill and the 250th marble monuments have been weeded along with the two benches along the Byerly Trail. The flower bed at the front gate has been resurrected. A most grateful thank you to Joe and Larry for keeping the essential grasses mowed.

The Society welcomes back PHMC part time maintenance man Jim Wolfe.

The society has hired two interns through a grant program. If you do come to the Museum please give a generous  welcome  to Jordan Baughman and Brandon Craft.

If you would like to volunteer now is the time. We are preparing for the Annual Car Cruise, market, and used book sale. The battle reenactment is on August 6 and  7. Paws in the Park will be  in September and the annual Haunted History Hayride in October. As always your help is much appreciated. Please stop in at the museum or email Liz Staab at facilitator@bushyrunbattledfield.com for further information on volunteering.

Thank you for your continued support and hope to see you at the battlefield.

Thank you

Bonnie Ramus
