Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society Presents 3rd Annual Charter Day Celebration and Free Museum Day

On Sunday, March 8, the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society, Inc. (BRBHS) will host its 3rd Annual Charter Day Celebration and Free Museum Day.

The event is being held in celebration of the Commonwealth’s 339th birthday. Pennsylvania was created when England’s King Charles II granted a charter to William Penn in 1681. Once each year, the Pennsylvania State Archives exhibits the original document in honor of this momentous event. To join in the celebration, Bushy Run Battlefield is offering free admission and other activities to all visitors.

“This event was initially created by Bushy Run volunteer Emily Liska as part of her senior project while preparing to graduate from Penn Trafford High School. The event provides the community with the opportunity to experience Bushy Run and all it has to offer,” says Michael Tusay, Museum Facilitator at Bushy Run Battlefield. “Our mission at Bushy Run is to educate the community on the historical significance of Bushy Run in the most engaging way possible while offering a fun and safe environment for all ages to enjoy. Our Charter Day celebration accomplishes just that!”

The program will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in complementary guided tours of the museum and battlefield, engage with 18th century reenactors, experience historical demonstrations, and peruse Bushy Run’s Gift Shop. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments, participate in a basket raffle, taste and purchase wine from Bushy Run Winery, and learn about all of the upcoming special events taking place at the battlefield.
